Tailgate Drink: Smoked Bourbon Old Fashioned

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz bourbon whiskey

  • 1/4 oz simple syrup (adjust to taste)

  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters

  • Orange peel, for garnish

  • Luxardo cherry, for garnish

  • Wood chips for smoking (such as cherry, apple, or hickory)

  • Ice cubes

Instructions:

  1. Prepare your smoking apparatus: You can use a smoking gun or a stovetop smoker. If using a smoking gun, place the wood chips in the chamber. If using a stovetop smoker, follow the manufacturer's instructions to set it up.

  2. In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker, combine the bourbon, simple syrup, and Angostura bitters.

  3. Add ice cubes to the mixing glass and stir well until the mixture is chilled.

  4. Prepare your serving glass by placing it upside down over the smoking apparatus. Ignite the wood chips and let the glass fill with smoke. Once filled, carefully lift the glass and set it right side up.

  5. Strain the chilled cocktail into the smoked glass over a large ice cube.

  6. Garnish with an orange peel twist and a Luxardo cherry.

  7. Serve and enjoy your Smoked Bourbon Old Fashioned!

Feel free to adjust the sweetness of the cocktail by adding more or less simple syrup according to your taste preferences. Additionally, you can experiment with different types of wood chips for smoking to achieve varying flavors. Enjoy responsibly!
